Corner Club

A neon cube bounces around a YouTube live stream that runs day and night, and the chat plays the game. Four corners are four teams: pick one. Will it hit your corner?

Contains flashing lights.

What it is

Corner Club is a live game on the Corner Club YouTube channel, played by everyone in the chat. When the cube hits your team’s corner, your team scores.

You play by typing commands in the live chat: join a team, push the cube along and spend points on moves. When the cube passes close and misses, the stage flashes “SO CLOSE!”. Every 7 close calls, another cube joins in, up to two extra at a time.

Every launch puts the cube on a random path that’s sure to reach a corner. Corner Club never steers it, though players can reroll it or pull it toward their corner with gravity.

The stream takes a 10-minute break each morning, from 8:00 to 8:10 am Pacific.

How to play

Join a corner by typing one of these in the live chat:

Your first join gives you 150 starter points, enough for a !reroll right away. You can switch teams any time, but switching resets your season points to 0. Type !commands to see the main commands on the stream.

Score. Every corner hit pays each member of the team, even if they’re away. Teams with fewer active players get an underdog bonus of up to ×3.

Heat. The cube heats up as the chat gets busy and keeps its heat until it scores. A hotter cube moves faster, and its next corner pays up to ×3.

Push for free. !push gives the cube a speed boost and fills your team’s push meter. Each person counts once every 30 seconds. When the meter is full, your team’s next push heats every cube, or breaks a block on your corner.

Spend points in the shop:

Spending comes out of your season points, the same total that ranks the season MVP. Every item needs you on a team, and some have cooldowns.

Check your points. Type !points and the channel answers in the live chat with your team, season points and rank. Everyone in chat sees the answer, and answers are limited, so not every !points gets one.

Chaos events

The chaos meter at the top of the stream follows the channel’s subscriber count. Each time the count passes a new milestone, a 5-second countdown runs, fireworks go off and one random event hits everyone. A chaos event also fires every 10 minutes of play. If several are due at once, they wait their turn.

Seasons

Each season lasts a week and ends Sunday evening, Pacific time. The team with the most points then wins, and a tie shares the title.

The season MVP is the player with the most season points, on any team.

When a season ends, a banner on the stream names the winner and the MVP. Then every team score and every player’s season points reset to 0, and everyone stays on their team.

FAQ

Is it free to play?

Yes. Joining a team, earning points and using the shop cost nothing.

Super Chats, once the channel can take them, are optional. They add spectacle and can set off chaos, but money never picks the event or a corner. The sender gets no points that other players don’t also get.

Can I win money or prizes?

No. Points are just for fun and have no cash value. There are no prizes: winning a season is for bragging rights.

Why did my name change or disappear?

Names are cleaned up before they go on stage: emoji, accents and symbols come out, and long names stop at 16 characters. A name that looks offensive, poses as staff or is mostly in another alphabet shows as a stand-in like “Green player 4821”. So does one that’s too short or holds a link, an @ or a phone number.

Moderators can hide a name the same way, and a ban or timeout in the chat hides it too. You keep playing, but a hidden name gets no !points answer.

Where did my points go?

Season points reset to 0 when a season ends or when you switch teams. If you haven’t chatted for 30 days, you leave your team and your points go: type a join command to come back.

Can I play on my phone?

Yes. The stream is vertical and made for phones: watch it in the YouTube app and type commands in the live chat.

Why didn’t my command do anything?

Commands start with “!”, and most need you on a team first. Shop items also need enough points, and some have cooldowns; if one can’t go through, nothing happens on the stream. When chat is quiet, a command can take up to about a minute and a half to arrive.

How do I get my data deleted?

Email support@tellwrightmedia.com with your @handle or a link to your YouTube channel. We may ask you to show the channel is yours. Within 7 days, we’ll delete your player, points, name and channel ID from Corner Club.

If one of our clips or the channel’s !points answers shows your name, say so in the same email and we’ll take it down within 7 days.

This doesn’t affect anything YouTube keeps, such as your chat messages in saved replays. To delete your own data on YouTube, use YouTube itself. Our Privacy Policy has the details.

How Corner Club works with YouTube

Developed with YouTubeDeveloped with YouTube

Corner Club is developed by Tellwright Multimedia LLC. It works with YouTube through YouTube API Services, on one channel only: Corner Club (@CornerClubTWM), which we run. Read our Privacy Policy.

Who signs in. Only the channel’s owner signs in, with Google, to give Corner Club access to the channel. It asks Google for one permission, youtube.force-ssl, which is broad: Corner Club uses it only for the actions listed below. Viewers never sign in to Corner Club: they chat with their own YouTube account, as on any live stream.

What Corner Club does on the channel:

Each !points answer shows the viewer’s on-stage name, team, season points and rank, or says they aren’t on a team yet. Everyone in chat can see it. Corner Club posts nothing else and never deletes chat messages.

Corner Club never saves what viewers write in chat, and Super Chat messages are read but never shown, used or kept. The one exception is moderators’ !hide, !unhide and !names commands, which are logged for up to 30 days.

Game data. Scores, points, MVPs, seasons and chaos goals are Corner Club’s own game data, made from what players type in chat and from game events. They aren’t YouTube data or YouTube statistics. The chaos meter shows how many more subscribers the next goal needs, worked out by Corner Club from the count YouTube reports.

Your data. Corner Club runs on a computer we operate and keeps its data in files there, not in a cloud database. For each player it keeps their channel ID, on-stage name, team, points, game timers, hide status and when they last chatted. It never sells or shares this data.

Players’ names do show on the stream, in !points answers and in our clips, and stay in YouTube’s saved replays. A viewer’s data is deleted within 30 days of their last chat, or of a later hide, ban or timeout involving them. Anyone can ask us to delete theirs sooner, as the FAQ explains.

Apart from YouTube and Google, Corner Club contacts only Healthchecks.io, when phone alerts are on. Healthchecks gets a status ping every 2 minutes, with no viewer data.

Removing access. The channel owner can remove Corner Club’s access at any time in Google’s security settings or with Corner Club’s own sign-out. Sign-out revokes the access with Google right away and deletes the saved sign-in and the broadcast history saved with it. After a removal in Google’s settings, they’re deleted within 30 days; viewer data keeps its own 30-day clock either way.

Corner Club’s use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Corner Club isn’t sponsored or endorsed by YouTube or Google. By taking part in Corner Club, you agree to our Terms and agree to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service. The Google Privacy Policy explains how Google itself handles data.
